The package is running properly. I tested it on the .bag file which was given in the description. We now have to test it with the lidar.
For some reason, git cloning the package isn't working properly. I first changed into the fuerte branch in the online repo and downloaded the zip file. Then I made a build directory and ran cmake. After that rosmake hector_slam-fuerte. The package will get created properly.
Try out hector slam module of ros.
