D&D 3.5 Gestalt System

To use the Gestalt Rules:

Load the "Dungeons & Dragons - Core Books" plus "Unearthed Arcana (Complete)".

Navigate to the FEATS & ABILITIES tab. Under the Subtab of "Misc" find the "Misc Options"

Two Options will be available. Choose the one that best suits your needs:

  • Use Gestalt (Simple version)
  • Use Gestalt (Complex version)

Simple version -

A new group will appear "Gestalt Class" with two choices. Select the two classes to represent your gestalt combination. After those choices are made, navigate to the Summary Tab or Class Tab and level up the "Gestalt" class. Each level in Gestalt will be reflected on both selected classes.

This will be the most accurate system to get the correct skill points, have correct HP and most of the other class driven values.

Complex Version -

  • A new group will appear called "Gestalt Leveling". Click on that group and select your Gestalt class.
  • Add the Gestalt class as often as you desire to represent the current level in that class.
  • Navigate to either the Summary Tab or Class Tab and add a regular class as the "Base" class.

Complex issues -

  • Skill Points - Will not be the highest, defaults to base class leveled.
  • Cleric needs to be the base class if you want Domains to work correctly.
  • HP will end up being the highest of any gestalt class chosen, regardless of level.

Known Limitations:

  • Domain support is not available currently. If you use Complex, adding Cleric as the Base class will allow Domains.
  • Gestalt Classes will not be treated as their named classes for meeting prerequisites (PRECLASS:1,y)
  • For Complex Version the skill points will default to selected base class, not the higher of the selected classes.

For the skill points, there are no plans to address the limitation since the SKILL POINTS value can be edited directly to reflect Gestalt or other customization on the skill tab. Please use this work around to accurately change the skill points allowed per level.

This system will not work with any ACF system that uses the PRECLASS:1,y set up. A data workaround is to use PREVARGTEQ:ClassLVL,y instead as each version of the Gestalt class does level that class specific variable.

Best,
