Intel GM45: GUI shrunken and partly off-screen – during installation of, and after boot of, TrueOS-Desktop-12.0-CURRENT-08-01-2016 #59
Comments
This repository is forked from the upstream FreeBSD-CURRENT source and is focused on bringing FreeBSD's Linux kernel binary interface (KBI) in sync with linux-4.6 allowing FreeBSD to more easily leverage graphics drivers developed for Linux to run on FreeBSD. From the screenshot it looks like this is a TrueOS issue so I would def work with them on debugging this. |
@grahamperrin: Could you please give more informations about the setup? Ie. which desktop environment or window manager does TrueOS use? Could you post |
OK, I guess that we're to treat the two cases (the symptom during installation of the OS, and the symptom after booting the OS) as one issue. If either of you would like to chat, I'm in irc://chat.freenode.net/#trueos I'll add the required logs in a few minutes. In the meantime, from https://lumina-desktop.org/faq/#qa-1000 for the desktop environment and window manager that are pictured at trueos/trueos-core#19:

With a more recent installer, I can't reproduce the bug during installation. @kmoore134 please should this issue remain open for attention to the bug in DRM for intel video? AFAICT from the attached logs, for this hardware the most recent installer defaults to modesetting … |
From trueos/trueos-core#10
There's a comparable issue trueos/trueos-core#19 'GUI shrunken and partly off-screen with TrueOS-Desktop-12.0-CURRENT-08-01-2016-x64-USB.img on Intel GM45'
– for that, should I raise a separate issue here?
