From deb09b38362be0c567da166bd697ef8abff422b2 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: villepeh <100730729+villepeh@users.noreply.github.com> Date: Mon, 10 Feb 2025 10:17:26 +0200 Subject: [PATCH] Add Oracle Linux installation instructions (#17436) ### Pull Request Checklist * [X] Pull request is based on the develop branch * [X] Pull request includes a [changelog file](https://element-hq.github.io/synapse/latest/development/contributing_guide.html#changelog). The entry should: - Be a short description of your change which makes sense to users. "Fixed a bug that prevented receiving messages from other servers." instead of "Moved X method from `EventStore` to `EventWorkerStore`.". - Use markdown where necessary, mostly for `code blocks`. - End with either a period (.) or an exclamation mark (!). - Start with a capital letter. - Feel free to credit yourself, by adding a sentence "Contributed by @github_username." or "Contributed by [Your Name]." to the end of the entry. * [X] [Code style](https://element-hq.github.io/synapse/latest/code_style.html) is correct (run the [linters](https://element-hq.github.io/synapse/latest/development/contributing_guide.html#run-the-linters)) I forgot the guide applies to Oracle Linux as well. In fact, I ran a small homeserver on OEL a few months back. I did minimal installations on Rocky and OEL on VirtualBox and noticed Codeready/Powertools repos aren't required, so I removed those commands from the guide. I switched `RHEL`-references to `EL`. #17423 was merged before I remembered about OEL but a new PR shouldn't hurt :) --------- Co-authored-by: Quentin Gliech --- changelog.d/17436.doc | 1 + docs/setup/installation.md | 17 +++-------------- 2 files changed, 4 insertions(+), 14 deletions(-) create mode 100644 changelog.d/17436.doc diff --git a/changelog.d/17436.doc b/changelog.d/17436.doc new file mode 100644 index 00000000000..7846d3a8bf5 --- /dev/null +++ b/changelog.d/17436.doc @@ -0,0 +1 @@ +Add Oracle Linux 8 and 9 installation instructions. diff --git a/docs/setup/installation.md b/docs/setup/installation.md index d0081a88d9b..0853496ab7d 100644 --- a/docs/setup/installation.md +++ b/docs/setup/installation.md @@ -310,29 +310,18 @@ sudo dnf install libtiff-devel libjpeg-devel libzip-devel freetype-devel \ sudo dnf group install "Development Tools" ``` -##### Red Hat Enterprise Linux / Rocky Linux +##### Red Hat Enterprise Linux / Rocky Linux / Oracle Linux -*Note: The term "RHEL" below refers to both Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Rocky Linux.
