We are analyzing how animals use a landscape across a land-use intensity gradient. Some individuals remain in low-intensity core areas, generating small steps that exclude nearby high-intensity areas from their available steps. As a result, despite using only low-intensity areas, selection coefficients appear weak or even suggest a positive selection for land-use intensity. I would appreciate advice on addressing this issue.
