Windows Version

aa

WSL Version

2.2.24

Are you using WSL 1 or WSL 2?

  • WSL 2
  • WSL 1

Kernel Version

No response

Distro Version

Ubuntu 22.04

Other Software

No response

Repro Steps

Type:

  • wsl

or
wsl -d whateverdistro

We have reinstalled Windows Subsystem for Linux & Virtual Machine Platform Feature. Still the same.

Expected Behavior

WSL works again, distro access restored.

Actual Behavior

WSL access Hangs completely.

We have 4 different distros:

  • Ubuntu-22.04
  • Ubuntu-20.04
  • data-distro (alpine)
  • wsl-vpnkit

trying access just freezes the terminal. Powershell consumes memory.

Also accesing the distros from \wsl$ behaves wrongly, initially seems to work but then shows
imagen

We have rebooted machine, same issue.

Diagnostic Logs

No logs, the Enterprise antivirus blocks the execution.

Solved:

  • The disk for one of the distros ran out of space (only 10Mb left).
  • One of the distros mounted this disk from the packed distro.
  • We ran wsl --update --pre-release & moved the disk to other with more space, registered back again & it works.
