First, of all, I am a very satisfied user of your Google Drive backup add-on and really appreciate all the work you have put into creating such a polished and configurable utility.
I noticed that the 2025 updates to HA core have rewritten much of the built-in backup code, incorporating some but not all of the features that your add-on offers, including the ability to backup to cloud sites like Google Drive.
So, on the one hand, it would be nice to use the built-in code to backup Google Drive and that code seems to have a couple of features that your add-on may lack. But on the other hand, your add-on offers features missing in the built-in back and in general is much more configurable, especially regarding backup retention logic and schedules.
More generally, it's not clear to me how some of the new built-in functionality such as encryption or user-readable backup file names interacts with your existing add-on.
Do you have any plans (or is there even any need???) to reconcile or even merge your add-on with the new built-in backup functionality or will it continue to exist as an independent add-on?
Meanwhile, if I want control over backup expiry, is the best thing just to continue using your add-on and ignore the new built-in backup version?
