Adding custom cutiemarks
A guide on how to add your cutiemarks to the game for personal use. NOTE: You can also post your content to our Discord server to get a chance to have it added to the mod officially.
Rimworld uses .png files to read images. Your file should be the same aspect ratio (square) and no larger than 256x256 pixels, 128x128px is the recommended size. For the best look of your future cutiemark, it is recommended to apply a black outline to the image to match the game's artstyle.
The most convenient way to find the location of the mod:
- Open Rimworld;
- Go to the "Mods" tab from the main menu;
- Find "Ponies of the Rim" by searching for it;
- Click "Advanced" and "Open folder";
- Once you are there, navigate to: Textures\Things\Races\Pony\Cutiemarks
Scroll to the end and find the files with the highest numbering, there should be 2 empty transparent files "QTMark_south / QTMark_north" and 1 file with a cutiemark named "QTMark_east".
Copy-paste these 2 transparent files and rename them so that the numbering order is consecutive. For example, if the last file was named "QTMark146_north", then the next file in the list should be named "QTMark147_north". Repeate this for both of the files.
The only thing left to do is to finally paste your own cutiemark, don't forget to rename it to "QTMark[number]_east" with [number] matching your transparent files.
Create a new colony, go through the game starting screens untill you reach the pawns selection menu. In the upper right corner, click on the square with the character's cutiemark to change it. Scroll down to the bottom until you find your cutiemark. Done!
