F3D 3.1.0 Roadmap

F3D is a collaborative project, let's collaboratively construct the roadmap for 3.0.0 release!

3.1.0 is a minor release, so breaking change are not allowed

This part may be updated but may not contains all issues that will be addressed.
Please look at the milestone and the board for the exhaustive list.

0. Overview

The objective of this release is to consolidate the different features and mechanism that have been added in 3.0.0.

1. Options consolidation

The new options framework has been introduced in F3D 3.0, however it require more work to be feature complete, especially:

• Add deprecation logic in options.json CMake generation code #1568
• Add a -D --define option to set libf3d options directly #1600

• Add an API to reset/unset options and expose it at CLI level #1623

• Add proper parsing for all options types #1571
• Generalize "UP" vector to be any direction instead of axis aligned #1533

2. UI Design and consolidation

A new ImGui UI was introduce in F3D 3.0, however it is not complete yet and should be improved upon, especially:

• Rework UI/UX using designer inputs #1976
• Convert dropzone widget into ImGui widget #1975
• ImGui console should support auto completion #1782
• ImGui console should support "Up"/"Down" to circle through inputted commands #1781
• ImGui Cheatsheet is not vertically centered #1780

3. F3DWeb industrialization

F3DWeb, the wasm version of F3D is quite popular despite being an experimental software. Let's industrialize it!

• VTK mismatch between Native/WebAssembly/Android CI #1954

4. Experiment with a mobile version

F3D has an android build for a while, but not phone application has been released yet, lets make it happen

5. Rework Website

https://f3d.app has been in rework for a while. We are getting close to be able to ship a new version of the website:

• Redesign website home page #1438
