Overview

This repository contains the code of a project developed for participation in Baltic AI Hack 2024. The project is a website with a built-in chatbot Law AI Helper, an assistant that used AI to answer questions related to Latvian laws.

🚩 What problem is being solved?

Many people find it difficult to find and understand current laws. Statutes are often complex, confusing and take a lot of time and effort to research. Legal advice can be protracted and expensive.

Imagine situations like this:

• A young mom wants to find out what child care benefits she is entitled to, but is faced with endless pages of complex legal text.
• A young person ready to buy their first car is unsure how to properly handle the purchase.

For many people these situations become a source of stress. People need a simple and affordable solution to quickly figure out their rights without spending too much time and money.

💡 What's the solution?

Law AI Helper is an AI chat bot that gives users fast, accurate and convenient access to up-to-date legal information.

Instead of spending hours searching for the right articles in laws or contacting lawyers, users can simply ask the bot a question and receive:

• A clear, concise answer based on the law.
• A link to the specific article of law the answer is based on.

Such a solution will save time, reduce stress and give people confidence that people are acting within the law - without having to pay for expensive counseling or sort through complex legal documents.
